Parenting For Prevention
Parent-Teen Series
- Current Schedule
Spend eight evenings that can make a lasting difference in your family. The Parent-Teen Series is for parents and teens to acquire skills and techniques to build a stronger relationship and learn to cope with the challenges of the adolescent years. Topics include: effective discipline, healthy communication, anger management, drug and alcohol prevention and use, boundaries and parenting styles.
"The Parent Teen experience was very positive for me as a parent as well as for my son. It provided the opportunity for him to have one-on-one time with each parent (we are a two-household family) to talk about serious issues as well as find out fun stuff about each other. It provided a safe environment and allowed my son to speak freely, without interruption or judgment. This experience provided the necessary tools for me to be a better parent and communicator. I have recommended this program to several of my friends and family members. I hope the program will continue to be available to the communities People Reaching Out services."
- Marianne Mendez
"I put a lot of blame on my child but it was very difficult to take a look at why they were doing what they were doing and to look at my part in it."
"My grandson told me more during tonight's activity than he ever has."
