Programs & Services > VHYAC
Overview
Created in 2006 because of widespread concern over an increase of violence in the Valley Hi community, the VHYAC represents a partnership between youth and adults that work and live in the community. The VHYAC is a consensus driven coalition where all members play a role in activity planning and implementation of efforts.
Coalition Mission Statement
The Valley Hi Youth and Adult Coalition exists to create opportunities for Valley Hi children, youth and families to have successful experiences in school, community, personal positive growth and development. We value youth adult partnerships, fun and collaborative leadership.
Coalition Model
The VHYAC is based on a youth development, community action model which focuses on developing youth assets. Youth coalition members are supported and trained to build their competencies as leaders, advocates, and coalition partners.
