Youth in Action Summer Program

PRO's newest program provides support and opportunities for youth to develop healthy habits and decision making skills through nutrition and prevention education and physical activities. High school and middle school students participate in a six week summer program where they engage in recreation, sports, healthy eating, cooking, small group discussion, arts & crafts, project creation and prevention skills education. PRO Motion serves as a summer extension to the Students Reaching Out and PRO After School programs and is open to students from Valley High School, Florin High School, Jackman Middle School and Rutter Middle School.

Nutrition DayYouth in Action Summer Program 2009

On Nutrition Day youth focused on nutrition and healthy meals. Guest instructor, Debra Garcia, is a Youth Program Educator Representative from the Expanded Food Nutrition Educational Program out of the University of California Agriculture / Cooperative Extention. This summer, students made broccoli rice casserole and orange smoothies!

Transportation Day
OnTransportation Day the youth learned to navigate the RT buses and Light Rail using the timetable book to map out their routes. Lack of transportation is a major issue for youth so learning to use the public transportation system gives them the ability to get around the city on their own.
